Standing up on a dune board is totally different and only recommended for adventurers with experience in snowboarding and surfing. These experts can take to the sands straight away. It’s not unheard of for complete novices to get the hang of it after some careful instruction from skilled tour operators though.

What to Bring

It’s always a good idea to take extra drinking water along with you to combat the Namibian heat. Sun protection is essential, as are sunglasses. All safety equipment will be provided and closed shoes are a good idea.

Children over the age of 10 are usually confident enough to attempt lying-down dune boarding on their own. Smaller children can take a tandem ride with one of the experienced instructors.
