Windhoek is full of unique delights to fascinate those who treat the city as more than a stepping stone to greater things.
History and culture
Gaze upon mementoes which recognise the triumphs and struggles of man and beast and rich cultural heritage of Namibia at Heroes’ acre, Owela Museum, Christuskirche, Tintenpalast, Independence Museum, the Reiterdenkmal, and the kudu statue on the corner of Independence Avenue.
Check out the Gibeon Meteorites and the sunset view from Skybar or the graffiti-clad Three Circles. If you prefer your art more formal, the National Art Gallery will not disappoint.
Eating out and shopping
Indulge in a meat fest and a Windhoek Lager at Joe’s Beerhouse, or take a township tour of Katatura to chow down on Kapama at the local market. Eat local at City Market or Green Market, and invest in some souvenirs at the Craft Centre.
Music lovers can pick up the sticks at Drum Café, get behind the mic or enjoy the tunes at The Warehouse Theatre, or boogie the night away at Club London.
Nature is on your doorstep wherever you go in Windhoek, explore the botanic gardens, enjoy the charms of the Hofmeyer Walk or take a time out at Parliament Gardens.
Arebbusch Travel Lodge is the perfect stopping point to sample the attractions of Namibia on day trips to:
- Gross Barmen Hot Springs
- Khomas Hochland
- Oanob Dam
- Game farms like Gocheganas and Aus
